Environmental Stewardship

Since its founding in 1927, Sand Point Country Club has been deeply committed to creating a harmonious environment where the game of golf and the natural landscape thrive together. As a proud member of Audubon International, the Club manages its property using industry-leading best management practices that enhance the surrounding urban greenspace—capturing carbon, filtering stormwater runoff to improve water quality, cooling the urban heat index, and providing valuable wildlife habitat for our community.

Recent sustainability investments reflect this long-standing commitment. For example, our new state-of-the-art maintenance facility incorporates renewable energy through on-site solar power. In addition, we have adopted a phased transition for our vehicle fleet to zero-emission equipment and are significantly reducing water use with an advanced treatment and recycling system.

Looking ahead, Sand Point is advancing a tree-planting program that will increase on-property tree populations by nearly 25% and convert approximately 15 acres into low-maintenance, heathland-inspired natural areas designed to support pollinator species and enhance ecological resilience. Our tree retention and replanting program consistently exceeds City of Seattle code by more than 50 percent. These efforts align with our pursuit of certification through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf.

At Sand Point Country Club, environmental stewardship isn’t an initiative — it’s a legacy we are proud to uphold for the benefit of our members, our community, and the future of our shared environment.
